Meet Katie

I learned wit and wisdom are tools
that may get me far in any endeavor

I can shift boulders, a mountain, or even the world if I have a long enough lever
— Katie Price, Astro Pax

Katie is a master of balance. A geotechnical engineer by day, she delves into the mysteries of the Earth. By twilight she is an aerialist, spinning from the rafters and twirling on aerial silks. By night, she’s an acrylic, oil, and digital painter, her canvases a riot of prime colors and emotion, capturing the vast landscapes of this earth and beyond. Her love for science fiction isn’t just a hobby; it’s a passion that fuels her imagination, leading her to craft stories that transcend the ordinary.

Having hopped around the world a bit and settled in the corners of Washoe County, Nevada, surrounded by the desert’s understated beauty, Katie embarks on her newest adventure: motherhood. With her nerdy and brilliant husband by her side, a man whose love for all things high energy physics is only matched by his love for their family, they navigate this new chapter with joy and a touch of geeky humor. Their dog, a loyal companion who thinks she’s both a warrior and a princess, and their son, a bright-eyed explorer of his tiny, rapidly- expanding universe, complete their quirky household. A home that is bursting at the seams from Katie’s canvases and chew toys (for dogs and babes) in every corner.

With a penchant for science fiction, Katie’s debut as an author is as bold and imaginative as her life. ‘Astro Pax’ takes young readers on a beautifully illustrated, interstellar adventure gripped with friendship and comradery. Her children’s book, a tale of an astronaut boy who finds himself on a planet where animals loom large and the impossible seems possible, is a reflection of her own journey. Her writing and illustrations are an invitation to children and parents alike to join her on a heartwarming tale of cosmic proportions exploring the gravity of imagination, awe, and the joy of finding one’s place in this overwhelmingly vast galaxy.

She hopes she—or at the very least her son— will see the Earth from orbit one day
